In 2015, Dr. Jennifer Jo Brout and Shaylynn Hayes met through a misophonia advocacy page. Together, Shaylynn and Jennifer devised a magazine, books, and eventually created numerous misophonia websites. Dr. Brout contributed numerous research articles, advocacy, clinical experience, and a numerous wealth of knowledge. Shaylynn’s focus was primarily on the technological side as well as providing writing and social media campaigns to amplify misophonia awareness. As time went on, Jen and Shaylynn worked together on misophonia classes, eventually running Misophonia Education for 3 years. As of today, Misophonia International is run solely by Shaylynn Hayes, who sincerely thanks and appreciates the hard work and dedication in the field of misophonia that has been accomplished by Dr. Jennifer Brout.
About Shaylynn
Shaylynn Hayes is a web, graphic, and print designer (Honours Diploma in Creative Digital Media) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Shaylynn is also an advocate for misophonia, mental illness education, OCD, and writes several books. As part of her advocacy work.
As a misophonia advocate, Shaylynn has written for numerous publications, including: The Huffington Post, Different Brains, Physician’s Weekly, The Mighty, as well as many more. Shaylynn is published under her maiden name, Shaylynn Hayes. Shaylynn was the Co-Director of Misophonia Education, and acted in a Producer role for the workshops, classes, and other technical factors of Misophonia Education. Shaylynn currently owns and runs Misophonia International, and is the Editor-in-Chief.
Shaylynn is the author of several fiction and non-fiction books including Full of Sound and Fury: Living With Misophonia, Acceleration, How We Survive Ourselves, and the poetry anthology The World Breaks Everyone.
