Counselling for Individuals with Misophonia

I’m Shaylynn Hayes-Raymond, an LCT-C (Licensed Counselling Therapist-Candidate) based in New Brunswick. I offer virtual counselling to clients in provinces and territories where I’m legally permitted to practice. I also offer misophonia coaching worldwide. Coaching is not therapy—it’s a separate service focused on coping strategies, advocacy, and sensory-informed support for individuals living with misophonia.

These counselling sessions are designed to help individuals in Canada develop effective coping strategies for managing misophonia and related sensory challenges. Counselling provides a supportive, therapeutic environment where you can explore your experiences and build personalized coping mechanisms.
Cost: $150 CAD per session.

Insurance: Many insurance plans in Canada cover counselling services. Please check with your provider to confirm coverage.

Format: Sessions are conducted via Zoom.

Personalized Approach
Each session is tailored to meet the client’s unique needs. Counselling can follow a structured path or be flexible, adapting to your current challenges and goals. Here is an example of a 10-session counselling plan, but ongoing support is also available:
– Initial Appointment: Psychoeducation combined with learning about your needs and challenges.
Misophonia Self-Assessment: Completion of an assessment followed by a discussion to understand your perspective.
– Skills Building: Introduction of cognitive and sensory-based strategies.
– Coping Strategies & Sensory Diet: Continued focus on building personalized strategies and enhancing sensory coping mechanisms.
– Final Session: Reflection on progress and debriefing the counselling process.
– Rescheduling Policy: Appointments can be rescheduled with at least 48 hours’ notice.
